College Station Council Approves Construction Contract For “Fun For All” Park

Construction will start by early September on the first phase of College Station’s Fun for All Playground…which city officials describe as a fully accessible park that provides inclusive play for everyone.

That’s after the city council at its last meeting awarded a nearly $1 million dollar contract to one of eight companies that submitted a bid.

Parks and recreation director David Schmitz says the focal point is a splashpad.

The first phase also includes a large playground unit, a swing area, other play equipment, and building the infrastructure for future phases.

Completion is supposed to be completed by next March.

Construction funding was made possible by private donations through the College Station Rotary and Noon Lions clubs.
