College Station City Council Voices Traffic Concerns In Split Rezoning Vote

A divided College Station city council Thursday night approved rezoning more land along the north side of Harvey Road between Copperfield and Boonville Road to build hundreds of more townhomes and multi-family residences.

The 5-2 vote followed the council hearing the developer say Harvey Road will be getting a center turning lane from Boonville to Veterans Park.

Councilman John Nichols, who voted for the rezoning, called on the city to ask the Texas Department of Transportation to do more.

Linda Harvell voted no and called on the state to reduce the speed limit and ban semi’s along that stretch of Harvey Road.

Bob Brick also voted against the rezoning.
