College Station City Council Receives Updated Water Master Plan

Over the next 20 years, College Station’s water system will serve almost twice as many customers.

The city council at its last meeting heard an update on the water master plan, which calls for increasing daily production from 25 to 35 million gallons a day.

Water services director Dave Coleman proposed a $56 million dollar capital plan that will take at least eight years to complete.

The $15 million dollar first phase, covering the next five years, includes building the city’s third water tower south of Baylor Scott & White hospital.

The $11 million dollar second phase, expected between 2019 and 2024, also includes extending water lines south along Highway 6.

The $10 million dollar third phase includes building the city’s 10th and 11th water wells. The city already owns land for the 10th well, while the land purchase for the 11th is scheduled during the third phase.
