Starting in June, motorists who use College Station’s Lincoln Avenue will be navigating around construction for the next 14 months.
That’s after the city council awarded a nearly $9.4 million dollar construction contract and a $1.4 million dollar contingency. The project budget is nearly $12.3 million dollars.
Lincoln Avenue will become a concrete street with roundabouts at Munson and Nimitz that capital projects director Jennifer Cain said will be large enough for fire engines and A&M transit buses.
The project also includes sidewalks on both sides of Lincoln, a right turn lane on Lincoln at University, and replacing water and sewer lines.
