The College Station city council at its last meeting awarded a contract to design the rebuilding of Victoria Avenue from Wellborn Road to Woodlake Drive.

The $458,400 dollar design is supposed to be finished by May of 2022.

There is no construction timeline. Assistant public works director Emily Fisher says the city will coordinate the Victoria project with TxDOT’s widening of Wellborn Road.

The new Victoria Avenue will not be as wide as the existing street. Part of the reason is the project includes a ten foot wide shared use path.

There will also be two roundabouts, one at Creek Meadows and the other at Woodlake.

Leaving the Castlegate neighborhood on Victoria approaching Wellborn Road, motorists will be forced to make a right turn and go north on Wellborn. Fisher said that was among consultant recommendations.

The project also includes rebuilding a section of Old Royder Road, is supposed to be finished by May of next year.
