College Station City Council Approves Two Of Three Requested No Parking Zones And Increased Parking Fines At The Northgate Garage

The College Station city council’s last meeting included decisions on several no-parking issues.

Two of three requested no parking zones were approved.

One was along portions of Poplar, Live Oak, Ash, and Nimitz Streets. City traffic engineer Troy Rother told the council that was requested by neighborhood residents.

The second bans parking along Edelweiss around Rock Prairie elementary school when students are dropped off and picked up. Rother says that was requested by the school principal.

The council postponed consideration of a third request sought by city staff until a neighborhood meeting is held to ban parking along portions of Langford and associated side streets, where Rother says emergency vehicles are not able to get through due to the width of those streets.

For those who get caught not paying in the Northgate parking garage, the council increased the fine from $50 to $115 dollars if you pay within ten days, and up to $125 dollars after that.
