College Station City Council Approves Towing In No Parking Zones

Vehicles in College Station that are unlawfully parked or are violating any city code can be towed at the expense of the owner or the operator.

That was unanimously approved during the city council’s September 27th meeting.

The focus is on vehicles parked in the Northgate surface lot on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights in spaces reserved for ride sharing vehicles.

But the amended ordinance applies city-wide.

Councilman John Nichols shared with community services director Debbie Eller the dilemma motorists are going to face on A&M home football game days.

Eller says in addition to signage, city employees will be telling motorists about the restrictions in the ride sharing area.

Eller says another parking issue in Northgate is telling Uber drivers how to get to the ride sharing lot, after Uber’s regional staff has failed to communicate that information to local drivers.

Mayor Karl Mooney says there are 1,500 Uber drivers serving the twin cities.
