College Station City Council Approves Request To Add Residential Zoning Restrictions South Of The Texas A&M Campus

All or parts of four College Station subdivisions south of the Texas A&M campus are now part of one neighborhood that includes three zoning restrictions.

That’s after the city council approved a request sought by a majority of property owners to add conditions on new construction in the area generally bordered south of George Bush, Fairview, Lee, and Park Place.

The restrictions on new housing have a maximum height, a minimum lot size, and a ban on removing mature trees during construction.

Jerome Rektorik, who made the motion, said he’s bothered about what was the nearly two year process for the applicants.

Five council members voted for the neighborhood conservation district. Linda Harvell and Elianor Vessali left the meeting because they live in the affected area.
