The College Station city council approves a request by the owners of 104 of 147 home lots in three subdivisions to limit the number of unrelated residents to two.

The council at its August 8th meeting unanimously approved the ROO, or restricted occupancy overlay designation for homes along Ashburn between Dominik and Lincoln.

The homes are in the College Hills Woodlands, Woodland Acres, and Sweet Briar additions.

Councilman Dennis Maloney noted that only 13 percent of subdivisions in College Station have enough owner occupied homes to apply for a ROO.

Gabriel Schrum of the city’s planning and development office said grandfathering is allowed of existing rental homes with three or four unrelated occupants. That is permitted as long as those homeowners remain current with the city’s rental registration program.
