College Station City Council Approves Multimillion Dollar Construction At Two Parks & TxDOT Agreement To Add Lighting To New Shared Use Path

Action at Tuesday night’s College Station city council meeting included a more than $2 million dollar construction contract affecting two parks. Demolition and replacement would take place at the Bee Creek park softball restroom and storage building. And demolition and replacement of two structures are planned at Central Park…the pavilion and the athletic field restroom building. Construction is supposed to take nine months, weather permitting.

The council also approved an agreement with TxDOT to add lighting along a new shared use path along South College between Hensel Park and University Drive. The city will be responsible to operate and maintain the lights. The Bryan TxDOT office says a contract for the shared use path is expected to be awarded next month. According to the city, TxDOT is expecting construction to start next July and be finished by the end of 2020, weather permitting.

There was no discussion before both items were approved by 6-0 votes.
