College Station City Council Agrees To Consider Request To Return Soccer Goals At Anderson Park

There are bleachers, but there are no soccer goals at College Station’s Anderson Park.

And the city council was asked at its last meeting to bring back the goals.

Four speakers during the public comment portion of the council included a Consolidated high school graduate Carlos Espina, and his father, Texas A&M professor Eduardo Espina. They were among those saying there is no place for pickup soccer games.

Councilman Dennis Maloney, who was the first to ask that the request be placed on a future agenda, said he was “astonished” the goals were gone. Maloney said he once coached soccer on those fields.

Councilwoman Linda Harvell, who can see Anderson Park from her office, wanted immediate action to return the goals.

No date was set to consider the request.
