A two story apartment building in College Station was evacuated from a fire Thursday morning.
College Station fire department battalion chief Robert Mumford says the fire at The Gables apartments on University Oaks was caused by a nail rubbing up against electrical wiring in the exterior stud wall of an upstairs apartment.
No residents or firefighters were injured.

The College Station Fire Department along with a Bryan Engine 3 were dispatched to The Gables apartments at 401 University Oaks Blvd for a structure fire at 10:08.
• CSFD and Bryan Engine 3 were dispatched at 10:08 for a building fire.
• Building 16 is a two story apartment building with a total of 8 living units.
• First company arrived on location at 10:11 and advised of smoking showing from the top of building 16 and was changed to a working fire.
• The company officer on scene evaluated the situation and found some residents self-evacuating from different units. The fire officer noticed charring on the exterior wall of an upstairs apartment.
• The crews on scene deployed hand-lines and made entry into the upstairs unit. No occupants were located inside and the company officer found a fire in the wall and possibly in the attic space.
• The fire was extinguished and crews on scene checked the attic space for extension.
• Situation was placed under control at 10:50.
• CSFD’s CART and REHAB teams were on location working with apartment management to assist and relocate some residents.
• One unit received fire damage and the resident was relocated.
• No injuries to any civilians or firefighters on scene.
• The fire was determined to be electrical and was caused by a nail rubbing up against electrical wiring in the exterior stud wall of an upstairs apartment.
