Last September, Brazos County’s road and bridge department closed I & GN Road between Graham and Capstone. Safety concerns will keep the popular route closed indefinitely.

In the last five months, Brazos County engineer Prarthana Banerji says their consultants developed four different options to address a crack in the pavement.

That crack, along a guardrail next to an 18 foot ditch, caused the ground behind the guardrail to drop one and a half feet.

The county has selected one of those options, and the consultants are now working on a detailed analysis that will result in designing the repairs.

Banerji says if everything moves according to her plans, the design will be completed this summer. Then the county will seek construction bids.

Banerji did not give an estimate about when construction could start or be finished.

She did say this is their top priority and they are doing everything they can to move as quickly as possible.
