Four days following a deadly crash near the freeway in north Bryan, survivors of the victim filed a lawsuit against the other driver. The estate of the victim, Maria Ramirez of Bryan, is seeking more than $1 million dollars from Robert Spurger of Bryan and his employer. According to online court records, the estate claims the employer provided alcoholic beverages to Spurger at a company function prior to the crash, then allowed Spurger to drive a company pickup. Bryan police arrested Spurger for intoxication manslaughter following the collision on the northbound freeway exit ramp to Tabor Road. According to online court records, Spurger…who is still in jail on the criminal charge…claims the other driver was at fault and is seeking a jury trial. His employer has not filed an answer.

The Brazos County district attorney’s office has announced a Bryan man has admitted to possessing $5,000 dollars of methamphetamine and almost $9,500 dollars in cash. 28 year old Zachary White, who was arrested three times between August and December of 2013, asked to stay out of prison. Instead, he was sentenced to 28 years. One arrest was after a Brazos County deputy constable clocked White’s motorcycle at 114 miles per hour. Another arrest was at a College Station storage unit. And the third was following an assault in College Station. Prosecutors say White admitted buying meth from the Dallas area and selling the drugs locally.
