City Of Bryan Capital Project Update

Bryan city manager Kean Register’s monthly capital project update to the city council includes:

The cleanup is nearly completed at the long neglected Grandview cemetery in north Bryan, where more than 1,000 African Americans are buried. The ornamental gate has been installed, and all that is left to do is some painting and general clean up before a new non-profit organization takes over the property.

Downtown Bryan is getting new outdoor lights for the third time in one year. Register reported the manufacturer replacing the lights at their expense after determining problems in voltage regulator components.

And as annual maintenance at the Haswell Park moat was scheduled for this week, Register reported the moat may be going away because staff considers it an aesthetically unpleasing feature that is also labor intensive to maintain.
