The city of Bryan posted on its social media during the weekend that there are new pickleball courts.
Tennis courts at Bryan Regional Athletic Complex next to Davila Middle School have been converted to three pickleball courts.
Those courts are available on a first come, first served basis.
And the courts are lighted between seven and 11 p.m.
The Brazos County sheriff’s office announces the arrests of five people on drug charges. A sheriff’s spokesman tells WTAW News that $6,000 dollars of methamphetamine was seized, along with smaller quantities of marijuana, Adderall, Hydroxyzine, and Dextroamphetamine. The arrests followed a search of a home on Thursday (October 3) in the Smetana area. The arrests caps an investigation that began one and a half years ago. News release from the Brazos County sheriff’s office: October 3, 2024, the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a property in the 1800 block of Smetana Road. This operation marks the culmination of a long-term investigation, spanning approximately a year and a half, focused on the manufacturing and delivery of methamphetamine. The Sheriff’s Office received assistance from the College Station Police Department, Bryan Police Department, Texas A&M University Police Department, and the Texas Department of Public Safety throughout various stages of the investigation. During the search, investigators uncovered evidence consistent with a methamphetamine conversion lab. Authorities seized a total of 204 grams of methamphetamine, a stolen firearm, and arrested individuals with outstanding warrants. College Station police responded to gunfire Thursday night (October 3) at John Crompton Park. CSPD’s Facebook page says no one was hit by multiple shots that were fired following a fight involving several individuals. One person who was injured in the fight was treated at the scene for undisclosed injuries. As of Friday afternoon, no arrests were announced. College Station police had an increased presence Friday (October 4) at Oakwood Intermediate School. That is after CSPD received rumors of a gun being brought to school. According to messages College Station ISD sent to Oakwood families, CSPD has not found corroborating evidence of a credible threat. Messages sent by the Oakwood school principal provided by College Station ISD: Original Message Dear Oakwood Families, This evening we were notified by College Station Police about a report that was made regarding rumors of a gun being brought to school tomorrow. I want to assure you that we are working closely with CSPD to investigate the situation and will provide additional information as they conclude their investigation. Please take this opportunity to speak to your children and remind them that making a threat against a district, school or individual is a serious offense and will not be tolerated. Whether it’s meant to be a joke, or said out of anger, we take threatening comments/actions seriously and work closely with law enforcement to investigate and take appropriate action.
