From the city of College Station:
Heavy rains contributed to an overflow of wastewater from the City of College Station’s wastewater collection system on Thursday. The overflow stopped when the rain slowed, and operators cleaned and disinfected the affected area.
College Station Water Services estimates that 171,200 gallons overflowed from a manhole located at Bent Oak Street and Emerald Forest Parkway in the Emerald Forest Subdivision. Because of the heavy rain and runoff, no environmental issues are expected. The wastewater ultimately overflowed into Bee Creek, which flows into Carters Creek.
Wastewater spills of any size should be reported immediately to College Station Utilities Dispatch at 855-528-4278 (4CSU). This number is monitored 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
The public should avoid contact with waste material, soil, or water in and around the area affected by the spill. Those who contact potentially contaminated materials should bathe and wash their clothes thoroughly as soon as possible.
