Children’s Mental Health Resources Available in Brazos Valley

Last week was Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week, and Linda Snyder with Mental Health, Mental Retardation of the Brazos Valley wants to make sure Bryan-College Station residents understand the importance of children’s mental health, but also, that they can find help locally.

Snyder says the earlier the intervention, the better, and asking for help from the family pediatrician is the first step.

She says MHMR provides psychiatry if medications are needed, and offers screening, case management, and social skills.

Snyder says they also teach anger control, and offer training to parents whose children are hyperactive, defiant, and emotionally irregular, among other things.

Parents can reach MHMR at 979-822-6467.
