Child Abuse Prevention Program Available

A passion for the protection of children from sexual abuse has two local law enforcement members facilitating a free prevention program.

Precinct Three Constable Rick Starnes says he and Deputy Gary Norton became certified for the Darkness Into Light program after they heard the statistic that one in four girls and one in six boys is sexually abused before their 18th birthday.

Starnes says they both thought that number was wrong until they did further research and realized that it was actually a conservative estimate.

Starnes says as the father of six, he has a personal interest in ending this epedemic that is ravaging our children, which he says are our most precious, God-given resource.

Starnes says they want to empower parents, civic organizations, church groups and others involved with children to see the signs and step in.

If you’re interested in getting involved, call the Constable Precinct 3 Office at 979-694-7900.

If you suspect child abuse, call the Texas Abuse Hotline 1-800-252-5400.
