Law enforcement agencies from Grimes and Brazos counties were involved in a chase Tuesday night (May 28) that began in the Keith community near Gibbons Creek lake and ended in east Bryan’s Oakmont subdivision.

The Grimes County sheriff’s office Facebook page says the driver avoided stop sticks several times, one which involved nearly hitting a DPS trooper.

During the pursuit, the driver called the Brazos County sheriff’s office and said he would fire his pistol if law enforcement got too close.

The chase went through Bryan and College Station before ending in the area of University Drive East and Oakmont Circle.

54 year old John May of Iola was returned to Grimes County on two warrants and new charges related to the chase.

This marks May’s third trip to jail in two months. Brazos County jail records show May was released May 6 on bond following his arrest on drug charges and on April 4 after posting bond on charges from College Station and Gaines County.

Brazos County court records show May is awaiting five criminal trials, four of them on drug charges.
