Original story:

A high speed chase Wednesday night involving DPS troopers and a stolen vehicle from Brazos County resulted in a crash that resulted in one death and three others going to the hospital.

Trooper Jimmy Morgan says the pursuit began in Brenham at Blue Bell Road and Highway 105 and ended on 105 near the Brazos River bridge west of Navasota.

Morgan says another trooper was attempting to stop a car that was driving erratically and none of three occupants were wearing seat belts.

During the pursuit, where speeds exceeded 100 miles per hour, it was learned the car was stolen.

Morgan says a second trooper placed stop sticks on the road, but the driver of the stolen car swerved and struck a car that was pulled over.

Two passengers in the stolen car were ejected. One died at the scene and the second is hospitalized.

Morgan says the driver got out but was caught by a trooper and taken into custody.

Two occupants in the car that was struck received injuries not believed to be life threatening.

No names have been released.

Morgan says the crash closed Highway 105 between 7 p.m. and midnight.
