Changes Made To Lick Creek Trail Construction

College Station’s Lick Creek hike and bike trail, which was approved by voters in 2008, won’t be built as designed.

The city council at its last meeting approved a change order that replaces a trail along Pebble Creek Parkway with bike lanes along the existing sidewalk and more trees or canopies.

Public Works Director Donald Harmon says the city’s consultant did not catch all the costs related to building the section of the trail between Highway 6 and William D. Fitch.

Blanche Brick, who represents the council on the Bicycle, Pedestrian, and Greenways Advisory Board, says the advisory body agreed to the change order.

The change order, reducing the project cost by $182,397.60, covers the $170,000 needed for the additional construction on the trail, located between Lick Creek and Creekview Parks.

Harmon says the trail is anticipated to be complete the first part of summer 2016.
