Chancellor Finalist Named for Texas State System

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) _ Texas State University System regents have named state Rep. Brian McCall as the sole finalist for system chancellor.

The board announced the decision Monday through a press release and said they’ll consider his candidacy further at a meeting next month.

McCall is a Plano Republican who once aspired to be House speaker and has been in the Texas House since 1991 but isn’t seeking re-election.

The Texas State system consists of seven universities, including Sul Ross State in Alpine, Texas State University at San Marcos, and Sam Houston State University in Huntsville.
