Chamber Hosting Youth Career Day

The fifteenth annual Youth to Career Fair Day is coming up, and although it’s a little less than one month away,  now’s the time to sign up for your business to be represented.

Dena Gaskin with the BCS Chamber of Commerce says  you might make a big difference in a local kid’s life.

She says it’s a good chance to showcase your profession, but the main thing is to chat with the students so that their visions can be broadened to professional opportunities that they might never have considered, or even been aware of.

Gaskin says it will be an opportunity for the 2,000 to 3,000 eighth graders attending to experience careers that are outside of their families, and it will help them to decide which classes they’d like to take in high school.

It’ll be all day long at the Brazos County Expo Complex, she says.

She adds that booth space is free, multiple employees can be rotated, and lunch will be provided, with the event sponsored by Sylvan Learning.

The deadline to sign up is three weeks from today (Wednesday, Oct. 17).
