Carnival Benefit Raising Money For Local Girl’s Cause

An eight-year-old Bryan girl needs help to get a diabetic alert dog.

Jennifer Stewart says her daughter, Libby, has type one diabetes and often can’t feel her blood sugar rising or dropping, but a specially-trained dog could protect her from organ damage, comas, seizures, and even save her life.

Stewart says a dog costs $20,000 to $30,000, and would be trained to smell the difference between her daughter’s highs and lows with samples of her spit, giving the family time to act before any permanent damage results.

The benefit carnival will feature food, games, face-painting, water-slides, a bake sale, raffle and prizes.

It will be held at the Church of the Nazarene in Bryan on Saturday, June 29, from 6 to 9 pm.
