Calvert Man Tells Bryan Police He Did Not Have To Obey Because He Has A College Degree

A Calvert man tells a Bryan police officer he didn’t have to follow orders because he has a college degree.

35 year old Othello Alford was arrested after he was shot with a Taser in the lower chest and just above the waist line.

According to the BPD arrest report, Alford was tazed after he hit one officer between his right ear and eye with an elbow and pushed the face of a second officer.

There was nothing in the arrest report to indicate Alford was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Monday night’s incident began the area of Texas and MLK in response to a disturbance involving weapons.

Officers pursued a car driven by Alford for almost a half-mile before it stopped.

Two loaded handguns were found in the front seat.

Alford is out of jail after posting bonds totaling $16,000 dollars following his arrest on charges of fleeing, resisting arrest, and assaulting a police officer.
