UPDATE: Caldwell ISD School Bus Rear Ended After School Friday Afternoon

Update from DPS and Caldwell ISD:

Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers are investigating a two-vehicle fatality crash on SH-21 about two miles west of Cooks Point involving a school bus with several students aboard.

The crash caused the death of the driver striking the bus and reported minor injuries to the bus driver and students.

At approximately 4:05 p.m. on Feb 10, a 2015 Ford F-150 struck the rear of the Caldwell Independent School District bus after it dropped off students.

The driver of the Ford, Delbert Lightsey, 95, of Caldwell, was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Judge John Towslee.

The driver of the school bus has been identified as Gloria Prazak, 59, also of Caldwell. Prazak was transported to Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Caldwell for non-life threatening injuries.

Some students on the bus at the time of the crash suffered minor injuries and were transported by ambulance and parents to area hospitals.

According to the Caldwell ISD Twitter feed, the bus driver and 11 kids were all treated and released from the hospital.

DPS reports one eastbound lane of Highway 21 remains closed as troopers continue investigating this crash. Motorists are urged to find an alternate route to avoid traffic delays.
