Monday’s lunch meeting of the Bryan school board brings back several projects for possible action.
The list includes the proposed move of the Hammond-Oliver high school from its stand-alone building near St. Joseph’s to inside the Bryan High blue campus. Last November, Superintendent Tommy Wallis made the recommendation in order to move the Mary Catherine Harris school for at-risk students.
And the board will reconsider next year’s school calendar. A decision was delayed last month because there wasn’t enough student input. That’s after the initial recommendation was to extend the school year into June. Dr. Wallis says they went from 1,000 survey results in the first round to more than 5,000 and the June option became more popular. He says the June was favored among students, teachers, and parents.
The board will also take up replacing the roofs at Branch and Houston at a cost of $1.4 million dollars.
Monday’s meeting starts at noon at the Bryan ISD administration building at Texas and William Joel Bryan.
