Weather-related public service announcements:

Friday night’s 50 Men Who Can Cook event, sponsored by the CSISD Education Foundation, has been postponed. The new date has not been set.

The Brazos Valley Children’s Museum has changed the start-time of Friday night’s Daddy Daughter Dance to 5 p.m. to avoid potentially hazardous road conditions later in the evening. Friday night’s event will now be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.  Also due to the weather, the Children’s Museum has an urgent need for volunteers at this evening’s dance. If you are available to volunteer at Friday’s dance, please contact the Children’s Museum staff immediately at (979) 779-5437.

Saturday practice sessions for the City of College Station’s Challenger and Youth Basketball leagues have been canceled. Both leagues will resume scheduled activities on Monday. For more information, call 979-764-3486.

The Rock Prairie Road Landfill has closed for Friday and will reopen Saturday morning at 7.

In College Station, curbside recycling and brush/bulky collections were cancelled Friday. The brush/bulky and commercial collections will be picked up on Saturday. Curbside recycling collection will not have a make-up day.

Bryan Police reports  TXDOT has re-opened HWY 6 at Woodville Road.  The HAZMAT team from Houston has not arrived, but the roadway is passable for now.  It is unknown at this time if the roadway will be partially closed for clean up today.  Please use caution in that area and be on the lookout for road crews that might be working in the area.

Coulter Airfield airside operations have re-opened after being closed part of Friday.  The terminal building is open as usual.

The City of Bryan’s brush and bulky collection that wasn’t done Friday will be done Saturday (2/5) instead of next week as originally planned. The City of Bryan Recycling Center is closed Friday but will have regular hours on Saturday, Feb. 5 (8 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.) There are no regular residential solid waste collection routes on Fridays, so that service will be unaffected. The City of Bryan’s Community Development Department is asking for blanket donations for local residents who are not adequately prepared for the freezing temperatures that are currently in our area. Project Unity, a non-profit organization that serves vulnerable Brazos Valley Residents, is facilitating the blanket donations at their site in the Carter Creek Center at 3991 E. 29th St. in Bryan. Blankets of all types, including electric blankets, will be accepted.

Voices For Children-CASA of Brazos Valley has rescheduled its 3rd Annual College Coaches for Children to February 10th from 5:30 until 7 p.m. at C&J’s Barbecue in Bryan.

The Star of the Republic Museum at Washington-on-the-Brazos, is postponing its annual Brazos Valley Regional History Fair from this Friday to the following Friday, February 11th.

Bryan ISD also reports Friday’s Disability & Transition Resource Fair at the Brazos Center is cancelled.

Thursday night’s performance of the Bryan High School musical, Crazy For You, has been rescheduled for Monday, February 7th, at 7:30 at the Bryan Civic Auditorium. The Friday, Saturday and Sunday matinee performances will go on as scheduled.
