Burleson County Sheriff Tom Norsworthy Resigns

A new sheriff is being sought in Burleson County.

Thomas Norsworthy was finishing the third year of his first term when county judge Keith Schroeder said he resigned for personal reasons.

Schroeder says they are taking applications for interim sheriff through Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Commissioners will begin interviews Thursday morning at 10. Schroeder says the goal is choosing someone Thursday afternoon and swearing in the interim sheriff on Friday.

The interim will serve the remainder of Norsworthy’s term, which is the end of 2020.

According to his Facebook page, Norsworthy spent 15 years with the department before serving as Caldwell police chief and as an investigator with the 21st judicial district attorney’s office.
