Burleson County Has A New County Judge & An Indicted Caldwell Policeman Resigns

A familiar face is the new county judge in Burleson County. During a special commissioners court meeting on Wednesday, former commissioner Keith Schroeder was appointed judge through the end of next year. Schroeder, who served as precinct two commissioner for eight years through the end of last year, takes over after Mike Sutherland resigned as part of an agreement with the Texas Commission on Judicial Conduct.

The police chief in Caldwell announces the resignation of an officer who was indicted this week on a charge of official oppression. The news release from chief Charles Barnes says Robert Baucom’s resignation was on the same day the former internal affairs investigator turned himself in at the Brazos County jail and was released after posting a $1,000 dollar cash bond. The misdemeanor charge is associated with the detention of an inmate in the Burleson County jail two months ago.
