College Station police arrest a man for burglary after he entered the wrong apartment, realized it, and still stole property.

According to the CSPD news release, officers responded to the Sterling Northgate apartments on Wellborn Road at 7 p.m. Monday evening after the victim said two suspects entered her apartment and stole electronic devices.

It was later that officers discovered the suspects had planned on visiting a different apartment.

A neighbor followed the two suspects to their vehicle and pointed them out when officers arrived.

The stolen property and marijuana was found in the suspects vehicle. 19 year-old Jacob Thomas Turner of Sealy was arrested for burglary and possession of marijuana.

The other suspect was cleared of any wrongdoing.

News release from CSPD:

On October 14th, 2019 at 1902 hours, Officers with the College Station Police Department responded to the 500 block of Wellborn Road North for a report of a Burglary in Progress. A resident of this location reported two unknown suspects entered her apartment and stole multiple electronic devices from the residence.

After a thorough investigation, it was discovered two suspects were planning to visit a different apartment and entered the wrong apartment. After one of the suspects discovered they were in the wrong apartment he stole multiple valuable electronic devices and ran out. One of the apartment’s residents was present at the time of their intrusion and called 911. A neighbor was able to follow the two suspects to their vehicle and pointed them out to arriving Officers. The stolen electronic devices were located inside the suspect’s vehicle, recovered, and returned to their rightful owner. Also discovered in the vehicle was a usable quantity of raw marijuana. The second suspect was later cleared of any wrongdoing, as he was ignorant of the other suspect’s actions at the time of the offense.

Arrest and Charged with Burglary of a Habitation with Intent to commit Theft and Possession of Marijuana:

Burglary of a Habitation with intent to commit Theft is a second degree felony punishable by imprisonment of 2 to 20 years and a fine not to exceed $10,000

Possession of less than two ounces of Marijuana is a Class B Misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment of not more than 180 days and/or a fine not to exceed $2000.
