A little after 10:00pm on Thursday night, BTU experienced an outage on feeders out of its Atkins and Industrial Park substations.
Some feeders were brought back into service within two minutes.
Crews were dispatched to identify the problem and to restore power to all customers.
Crews worked throughout the night and as of 8:45am this morning, BTU still has about 400 customers without power.
At 3:30am this morning, BTU Dispatch reported that due to ongoing maintenance, substation capacity was temporarily reduced and combined with the unusually low temperatures; BTU was prevented from restoring power as quickly as it does under normal conditions.
Also, BTU experienced problems with its online outage map.
“We’re sorry for the inconvenience to our customers. Everything is being reviewed and more details will be released later today”, said Group Manager of Customer Operations David Werley.
