A Bryan woman is off to prison following a Brazos County jury’s conviction of assaulting a Bryan animal control officer.
48 year old Sarah Searcy-Benford was sentenced by District Judge Steve Smith to six years, though the judge added he would consider probation after she spends several months in prison.
Benford was found guilty of throwing liquid bleach on the officer, trying to hit him, and running away from him after she was told she was under arrest for yelling multiple profanities around her children…which could also be heard around the neighborhood.
All this was part of a police call last August responding to the report of a vicious dog owned by Benford in the 1300 block of Military.
Prosecutors asked for prison time based on Benford’s history of disturbances and disorderly conduct when out in public near her home.
