Bryan Schools Spending Less Than Expected For Electricity

School districts who are powered by Bryan’s electric utility are getting a rate adjustment.

At the last city council workshop, BTU general manager Gary Miller said next year’s electric cost for the Bryan schools will be $300,000 dollars less than originally expected.

Miller says Bryan ISD saved $400,000 dollars last year because the district was in the last year of a negotiated rate contract.

City Manager Kean Register says it has to do with changing the way BTU sets electric rates.
