Bryan School District Update

Nearing the halfway mark in this year’s filing period for local political office, we have our first contested race. That’s on the Bryan school board, where at-large member David Stasny has filed for re-election and is opposed by Roy Flores. There’s also someone interested in single member district two, where John Street has filed for the seat now held by Pat Shields. Shields has not announced whether he will run again. The last day to file for school and city positions is March 14th.

Bryan school district parents, students, and supporters have one more chance to talk with consultants hired to assist the selection of the next Superintendent. Search firm representatives will be available Friday evening at 5:30 at the central office downtown to receive comments on not only the hiring but what should be the focus for the district in future years.
