Bryan School Board Bickers Over Superintendent Search

Still more questions than answers after two discussions among members of the Bryan school board about how they will go about selecting the district’s next superintendent.

The agenda for Thursday night’s Bryan ISD Trustees special meeting did not allow the board to consider action. There remains no majority whether to hire a search firm.

In executive session, David Stasny offered names of existing Bryan district employees. Before that, Stasny and Kelli Levey disagreed on the chances of finding someone outside the district.

Stasny is the only current board member involved in using a search firm nearly ten years ago to hire Herman Smith from Greenville. And Stasny and Merrill Green are the only members still around who promoted Mike Cargill seven years ago.

Trustees President Pat Shields says he expects some movement when the board holds its next meeting.
