The Bryan school board has a new central office administrator and has brought back an incentive for teachers thinking leaving the district.

Last month, Bryan ISD’s human resources director Lee Felder resigned. Filling the position is the principal at the Mary Catherine Harris alternative school. Leroy Morales is in his second year with the district. The board’s vote also expanded the position to include support and auxiliary services. Deputy Superintendent Tim Rocka said that reflected an organizational change due to the recently passed $132 million dollar bond issue.

The board also voted to bring back a financial incentive for teachers to announce sooner rather than later they are not returning next year. Teachers who tender their resignation by February 27 will receive a $500 dollar bonus in their August paycheck. Dr. Rocka says that will give principals a start on which positions need to be filled when Bryan ISD holds a career fair is held the following day. Only teachers are being offered the incentive.
