The Bryan school board could have a finalist for superintendent by next March.
That’s after the board hired the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) to lead the search.
TASB’s Butch Felkner says the community should not be concerned about quality candidates after the departure of Tommy Wallis for unknown reasons.
Felkner also says the circumstances of Tommy Wallis’s departure won’t be an issue for interested candidates.
Next month, TASB representatives will be back to work with the board on a formal timeline.
After that, there will be community input.
Board members were told TASB treats external and internal candidates the same, and the board will know “the good, the bad, and the ugly” of those who apply.
The board was also told this was a good time to conduct a search, because if someone is hired in the spring they can be involved in developing the budget for the 2017-18 school year.
The association will be paid $10,500 plus expenses.
In 2011, Bryan ISD employed Illinois-based BPW Associates to assist, at a cost of $20,232.90.
