A Bryan church building was damaged before sunrise Thursday morning (May 2) after it was struck by a SUV driven by someone who was arrested for DWI. A staff member at the Grace Church Midtown campus on South College says when their building was struck, that broke a water main. That caused all children’s programming to be moved to another building. The Bryan police arrest report says 21 year old Edgar Gomez-Salazar of Bryan went to jail after failing field sobriety tests and telling an officer he had drank a 12 pack of beer. Salazar was released from jail after posting a $2,000 dollar bond.

The driver of a pickup truck that struck two highway signs and crashed into a ditch tells Bryan police the reason was because the truck’s suspension failed. BPD arrest reports say a witness reported the driver walking away from the crash, which happened last Sunday (April 28) at one in the morning off Highway 21 in the Castle Heights neighborhood between the freeway and Coulter Field airport. The driver, 40 year old Pedro Garcia Juarez of Bryan, was arrested for DWI with two prior convictions and damaging the highway signs. He remains held as of May 3rd for immigration authorities.
