Bryan Police Arrest Two Men For Possessing More Than 50 Pounds Of Marijuana

Bryan police make two arrests and seize an estimated $70,000 dollars of marijuana.

BPD arrest reports say what happened Thursday (May 23) is after two officers who were conducting surveillance stopped a car for failing to signal.

Then the officers searched the car to find the source of marijuana they were smelling.

After finding one pound of marijuana in the car, a third officer went to the house that was under surveillance.

Another car was searched, again because of the odor of marijuana.

In the second car, 56 pounds of marijuana was found, mostly in 1.2 pound vacuum sealed bags.

A BPD news release says officers found in the home, two pints of Promethazine syrup.

The home is located on Berger Drive, across the freeway and south of Rayburn intermediate school.

20 year old Keeon Kelly of Bryan was arrested for possession of marijuana between 50 and 200 pounds in a drug free zone, possession of a dangerous drug, and unlawful carrying of a gun. He remains held as of May 24th in lieu of bonds totaling $68,000 dollars.

30 year old Jakeith Jones of Bryan was arrested for possession of marijuana between 50 and 200 pounds in a drug free zone. He remains held as of May 24th in lieu of a $60,000 dollar bond. And Jones is awaiting a trial in Brazos County district court from charges in November of 2021 of manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana between five and 50 pounds.
