Bryan police arrest three people on drug charges as the result of monitoring its Snapchat and Instagram accounts.
Six officers were involved in the operation last Wednesday (October 4) where the plan was to going to buy two T-H-C vape pens.
Instead, the S-U-V that officers were following stopped in the middle of Beck Street in north Bryan and a passenger started walked away.
The 17 year old, who had a handgun, refused commands to stop. That led to one of the officers tackling the man, which resulted in what turned out to be a loaded gun flying out of the man’s waistband and landing in a field.
Officers seized the gun, two vape pens, and about one ounce of marijuana.
That led to the arrest of Anthony Doughty and the driver of the S-U-V, 19 year old Kyiea Chavez of Bryan on charges of manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
Doughty, who was also charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon, remains in jail as of October 9 on a detain order from the Texas juvenile justice department.
Chavez was released from jail after posting bonds totaling $12,000 dollars.
A second passenger was charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
