The Bryan police department’s traffic safety unit is concentrating on reducing crashes in at least three parts of town.
Officer Jon Agnew says a review of minor accidents shows a trend of drivers failing to control speed and following too closely among other correctable actions.
Agnew tells drivers to keep two seconds between you and the vehicle ahead, then add one second for each obstacle such as towing a trailer and driving in rain.
Agnew also says the pro-active effort will include issuing tickets.
Look for additional patrol on Briarcrest in front of Wal-Mart, Villa Maria in front of the Tejas Center between Texas and Briarcrest, and William Joel Bryan Parkway around the post office.
