Bryan Mayor Scolds Castle Heights Residents Who Scold The City Council

The ongoing efforts by supporters of improvements in the city of Bryan’s Castle Heights neighborhood…east of the freeway and south of Highway 21…resulted in two warnings from the mayor.

The last time public comments were allowed at a council meeting, Andrew Nelson repeated his standard directive to not comment about the governing body or city employees.

That was followed by several speakers representing the Castle Heights neighborhood, including former councilman Rafael Pena.

That led to a second warning from the mayor.

The mayor did not react to a similar statement that was made later by another Castle Heights speaker, Larry Gilbert, who was among those requesting street and flood mitigation projects in their neighborhood.

Councilman Mike Southerland, on WTAW’s The Infomaniacs, talked about efforts to reduce flooding in Castle Heights and other areas of the city.
