A Bryan man has been found guilty of capital murder in the death of a convenience store clerk in College Station just over one year ago.

A Brazos County District Court jury took about one and a half hours, according to the District Attorney’s office, of convicting 19 year old Joshua Evans of Bryan.

Evans shot Johannes Kinny during the holdup at the Exxon at Welsh and Harvey Mitchell.

Because prosecutors did not seek the death penalty, Evans’ punishment was an automatic life prison term.

Co-defendant Corey Stewart of College Station is scheduled to be tried in June.
