Bryan ISD School Board Takes Another Step Towards May 2020 Bond Issue

Next May, if voters in the Bryan school district approve what’s expected to be a bond issue of more than $100 hundred million dollars, two firms have already been hired to design two of the projects recommended by a bond steering committee.

Unanimous votes took place at the last Bryan school board meeting, authorizing the superintendent to negotiate contracts.

Before the vote, the work of a selection committee was brought up by superintendent Christie Whitbeck and board member David Stasny.

Chief of staff Ginger Carrabine echoed Dr. Whitbeck’s response to a board question if a contract could not be reached with either of the firms that were selected.

Eight firms submitted proposals and five of them were interviewed.

The board selected one of the five for the possible renovation of the Stephen F. Austin annex, and another was selected for the possible replacement of Bryan ISD’s transportation center.
