Bryan ISD School Board Gives Authority For The Superintendent To Negotiate Bond Funded Contracts With Contractors And Engineers

Bryan ISD school board members give the superintendent the authority to negotiate nine contracts involving the $397 million dollar bond issue that voters approved last November.

Seven contracts are with companies providing architectural services and two are with companies providing engineering services.

Deputy superintendent Brian Merrell says more than 20 architects and more than 20 engineering companies submitted proposals.

Then an eight person team that reviewed all the candidates then interviewed 11 of the architectural firms and five or six engineering firms.

Before the interviews, Merrell said campus principals were contacted to get their input.

The board’s unanimous vote followed an update on the bond issue at their February 2nd meeting.
