Bryan ISD school board members heard at their last meeting before Christmas break, from the president of Bryan High’s Viking athletic booster club.

Marc Garrett, who is the father of a freshman student athlete, called on the board to give more support to BISD athletic programs.

Garrett says boys in the class of 2028 football and basketball teams have not won a game since they were seventh graders.

He told the board “How do you turn that around? It’s a long process. I don’t know that it will benefit my kid’s class. But I would like to see the class of ’29 or the class of ’30 be made a priority.”

Garrett also said “I’m not a lone ranger. I’ve talked to a lot of families out there. And if you (board members) had any idea how many families are considering leaving this district.”

Because Garrett spoke during public comments, board members could not respond.

The Viking Club’s website shows two school board members are also on the board of the booster club…Joel Bryan and David Stennis.
