Bryan ISD Moving Health to 6th Grade

Health education in the Bryan school district is moving to younger students. The Bryan school board recently approved plans to instruct sixth graders during some of their time in physical education.

Superintendent Mike Cargill says those who are certified to teach health, which may not be P-E teachers, will be the instructors.

Cargill adds sixth grade health will include a unit on sex education that parents have the option of keeping out their children.

Sixth grade health will replace high school health but will be in addition to a teen sexuality units the state requires in secondary
