Bryan ISD Money Crunch Causes Problems

Finding the money to operate the Bryan School District has been a challenge the last several years. Chief Financial Officer Amy Drozd has been with the district 18 years. She says the 2010-2011 year is the most challenging yet.

Drozd said without new revenue, cuts will have to be made in instructional programs next year.

Drozd said trustees have been given several financial scenarios. The list includes asking voters to rollback taxes, taking money from district reserves, and cutting spending up to $2.5 million dollars.

During a Bryan school board workshop this week, trustees asked staff the cost savings of eliminating classroom and extracurricular programs.
